Emotional abuse is when someone tries to hurt your feelings on purpose.
They may call you names, make fun of you, or try to make you feel small. They may even bombard you with bad news that has nothing to do with you or them just to make you feel bad.
Another form of emotional abuse is when someone is constantly interrupting you, ruining your peace, and ask for a lot of favors. Basically, not letting you rest.
No one deserves to be treated this way. It can have a severe impact on your brain health.
You can lose your memory, your ability to make the simplest decisions. and be in constant fight or flight mode.
This is no way to live and you must choose yourself over the friendship or relationship.
If someone is being mean to you or mistreating you, here’s what you can do:
- Know Your Worth – You are important! Don’t believe hurtful words. And you don't have to comply with them!
- Set Boundaries – It’s okay to say “stop” and walk away. No explanation needed either.
- Talk to Someone – Tell a friend, family member, or trusted adult.
- Stay Strong – Don’t let their words control your happiness.
- Choose Love – Be around people who make you feel good. Spend zero time with those who make you feel bad all the time.
Emotional abuse is not your fault. You deserve kindness and respect.
Keep believing in yourself, and don’t let anyone dim your light! Stay strong, and keep leveling up!
