The greatest contribution you can give the people in your life, as well as the world, is by you simply existing with great mental health.
When we’re always in a funk, we don’t realize it because we’ve become so used to it. However, the people around us are negatively affected by our poor mental health.
This can potentially put the people around you in a worse mood. This is especially true for those who truly love you and empathize with you.
By taking care of your mental health, you are not only helping yourself, but you’re also helping the people in your life and those you come into contact with.
Don’t get me wrong here. I’m not saying you should go around proactively trying to uplift people, as that can be draining and counterproductive. Notice how I started the blog by saying, “...by simply existing with great mental health.”
This means you don’t need to put in additional effort to inspire others. By radiating positivity and joy, you automatically make others feel better. You unknowingly heal them.
As a result, people will tend to gravitate towards you a lot more. This can be a good thing, but it also can be a bad thing, especially if you’re an introvert. And this additional attention can be a bad thing if you don’t have boundaries.
So be sure to set boundaries with others and respect your time and energy. Don’t allow others to drain you energetically or waste your time. Strike a healthy balance. Remember, with some people, if you give them an inch, they’ll take a mile.
So take care of your mental health by healing your past traumas such as abuse, betrayals, bullying, and/or a toxic relationship. Practice gratitude often. Meditate for 10-15 minutes daily. Release negative thought patterns. And only entertain positive thoughts.
