In late 2021, I was sitting in my 20th floor apartment overlooking New York City.
The lights were beautiful... But my life? It wasn't.
I had just walked away from everyone I thought loved me. After 40 years of lies, manipulation, and narcissistic abuse, I finally said enough.
But here's the thing nobody tells you about walking away.
You don't just lose the toxic people. You lose your whole identity too.
I didn't know who I was without them. I didn't know what I wanted. I didn't even know if I could trust my own judgment anymore.
And for a while, I felt completely broken.
But that breaking? That was the beginning.
When you lose everything, you get something back most people never find. You get yourself.
The real you. Not the version you became to keep the peace. Not the person you pretended to be to fit in.
Just you.
And that's when everything changed.
I rebuilt from nothing. And what I built was mine.
If you're in that place right now, I need you to hear this.
Losing everything isn't the end; it's the clearing. It's making room for who you're about to become.
