Being productive is your golden ticket to your best life. Sure, we'd all love to lay in bed all day and manifest, hoping our desires fall on our laps from the skies - however, that's not how life works and it's not how manifestation works either.
Ironically, in order to be very productive, you have to first be productive. That's probably not what you expected, I know, but hear me out. You have to build the habit of being productive. Being productive is a lot like the scientific discovery that a body in motion tends to stay in motion.
Start with baby steps. Set smaller goals. Work on them, achieve them. Then, create new goals. Over time, set bigger goals and tackle them daily. Set a routine and consistently chip away at that goal. When you achieve small goals, you will feel a sense of accomplishment. You will also gain confidence in yourself. You'll just feel good overall.
Accomplishing goals, even if they're small, helps build self-reliance. It gives you the sense that you can do anything. If you aren't in the habit of accomplishing small goals and suddenly you want to tackle a major goal, it may seem unachievable because you're not used to it.
When I set out to create my Fat Loss Xtreme Program, it seemed like a daunting task at first. I had all the information in my mind and just thinking about all of the content, I knew I had a lot to say. I didn't shy away from the goal but it was the first time I did anything like it.
Luckily for me, I had already been doing social media videos for nearly 2 years at the time so I wasn't camera shy. In order to get started, I knew I had to make a plan. And I knew from the start, this wasn't something I can get done in one day. So to take the pressure off me, I set realistic goals of making one video per week.
The program has a total of 7 videos, which includes the intro. The first step was to write down all of my ideas in a list format. After that, it was time to group the ideas into separate videos. After I had it all layed out, it was time to start the first video.
I purchased an easel whiteboard so I can have my main talking points to refer to while making the video so that everything made logical sense. It also serves the viewer to read the information off the whiteboard.
None of the videos were shot in one take. That's why it would take a week to complete one video. I had mic issues and other recording issues which caused more retakes than anticipated. However, I kept my eyes on the goal and remained disciplined everyday.
Many times we aren't productive because there's some sort of block within us. It's almost like the feeling of fear. It's a wall that gets in the way inside of us. You have to have the determination and strength to blow past that wall each and everyday. Here's the great thing, once you blow past that internal wall enough times, that wall is gone forever. Sure at the beginning that wall keeps coming back the next day, but eventually that wall disappears - so long as you show up everyday and do productive things.
Eventually, you'll form the habit of always doing and accomplishing and you won't be able to see yourself in any other light. In other words, you won't be able to see yourself laying in bed or on the couch all day doing nothing.
The key to productivity is knowing that daily action leads to monumental achievements over time. For example, if you're dieting and working out, you're not going to see much of a difference in a day or week - even if you starved yourself and worked out for 8 hours a day. However, if you're in a slight caloric deficit and you workout for 45 minutes each session, you will see a noticeable difference after 90 days.
This is the most important lesson I've ever learned in my life and thankfully it's one I learned in my teenage years. Since I was about 17 years old, I knew that if I took daily action, I would see enormous changes every 90 days. Therefore, I learned to be patient and not seek instant gratification.
So, once again to be productive, you must remain productive everyday. It's hard to be productive when you haven't been doing much for weeks. The best thing I've found is to be productive 6 days a week and rest on Sunday. However, I'm literally writing this blog at 5:30am on a Sunday, LOL.
That's ok because I slept 11 hours last night and I just love writing and teaching. So, this doesn't even feel like work for me. It's enjoyable. Personally, it's more fun doing this than playing video games. In fact, I don't even own a gaming console!
Anyways, remember whenever you're trying to build a new habit, whether it's productivity or working out, you must ease your way into it. If you've been idle for a long time, take baby steps until you're comfortable enough to take bigger steps. Remember, trying to take giant steps right away usually leads to burn out and ultimately leads to you quitting altogether.
