How To Be in the Present Moment

How To Be in the Present Moment

Written by Chris Josh

Being in the present moment is where heaven on Earth is. The past is usually hell for many and the future is just nerve wracking because we think up of thousands of "what-if" scenarios that leave us filled with anxiety.

Here's how to focus your attention on the present moment. It's quite easy.

Wherever you are reading this right now, look around you. Give your attention to the first thing you see and mentally or vocally say the name of that thing. For example, say you're at the office. Look at your computer and say, "computer."

Move on to the 2nd thing you see around you and repeat the exercise. Do this until you've pointed at and named 10 things.

You will start to notice a shift in your mental focus to the present moment. That's good. That's what you want.

So how do you maintain this focus? By repeating the exercise 3-4 times a day. You can do this at a red light, at the grocery store, at your residence, and anywhere else.

Do this consistently every day and eventually, after 3-4 weeks, you should have built up this habit of focusing on the present moment and you shouldn't have to do this exercise anymore.

However, if you ever find yourself having a panic attack, this is a great exercise to help reduce your anxiety. Of course, this isn't medical advice. Seek professional help for your anxiety.

Hi Chris,
I enjoy when you pop up on my tiktok fyp…everything you talk about has so much meaning, truly resonating with my spirit. I can feel how you speak from the heart. You profoundly care for others, it’s evident. I think I was one of the 1st to purchase your book. :-) So proud of you and how you’ve conquered all of the challenges in life God has presented to you…you came out even greater & stronger from all you’ve endured. I know without a doubt God is proud of you as well. Keep shining like a star.. & best of luck in all of your future endeavors. You’re so brave…you’re doing it!
